Cases recognised in FT Aggregated Research Ranking with support from The Case Centre’s Impact Index
The Case Centre has long advocated for business education accreditation bodies and rankings to expand their focus beyond ‘high-impact’ peer-reviewed journal articles to include cases - another rigorous, relevant form of research with real-world application.
For the first time, the Financial Times Aggregated Research Ranking now recognises cases, integrating them alongside other academic publications. The 2024 edition of our Impact Index, which measures the global reach and influence of an organisation's case writing, is now incorporated into the ranking criteria, emphasising the rigour, relevance, and resonance of cases in business education.
The FT has referenced our Impact Index list to rank schools within the Aggregated Research Ranking*. This collaboration marks an important step in highlighting the unique impact that case studies contribute to the business education landscape.
The Aggregated Research Ranking was featured in the FT’s Business Education Research Insights 2024 special edition, which also included an article exploring how real-world cases work as business school teaching tools.
*Please note: The FT ranking is specific to schools within its analysis. Any schools listed in the Impact Index but not analysed by the FT have been excluded, ensuring that the case impact data remains aligned with FT-ranked institutions.
