Tuesday 5 September 2023 China Europe International Business School, China
The Case Centre visited China Europe International Business School’s (CEIBS) Shanghai Campus on Tuesday 5 September to present a series of Case Awards.
The Case Centre’s CEO, Vicky Lester, and Communications and IT Manager, Antoinette Mills, joined faculty and staff from CEIBS and other business schools across China at the Case Method Forum and Awards Ceremony; hosted by President WANG Hong and Director of the CEIBS Case Center, Professor CHEN Shimin.
In her opening remarks Dr WANG said: “Since joining CEIBS I have been deeply impressed with the faculty for their focus on case teaching and writing. I have seen wonderful cases and teaching notes that have been written and then used in the classroom. We serve over 80 business schools and 6,000 professors, contributing to business education across China. I extend my warm congratulations to the Award winners.”
Vicky presented the winning authors with their trophies, commenting on the quality and topicality of both winning cases.
Professor WANG Gao and ZHU Qiong received the Outstanding Case Writer Competition trophy for their case Wuling Hongguang MINIEV: A New Breed of Chinese Automaker.
Professors Daniel Han Ming Chng and Byron Lee, and Dr ZHAO Liman, also received the Outstanding Case Writer: Hot Topic competition prize for their case Daddy Lab: A Chinese Social Enterprise's Dilemma. The case was co-authored by Professor Peter Moran and SUN Hellen Heming, and the hot topic was ‘Business, social media, and society’.

This was followed by a roundtable discussion ‘What makes outstanding cases: international case publishers’ perspectives’ with Vicky and Professor CHEN Shimin, moderated by Professor Byron Lee.
