Welcome to The Case Centre's list of bestselling case authors for the 2021/22 academic year. Teaching faculty whose cases sell the most copies during the previous academic year appear in the list.
Highlights
The 2021/22 ranking has a truly global reach featuring 21 schools, from 9 countries, on 4 continents.
The late Debapratim Purkayastha of ICFAI Business School (IBS), who sadly passed away in May 2021, is top of the ranking for a seventh straight year.
Fellow ICFAI Business School faculty member, Indu Perepu, remains at no.2, and is the highest ranked female author in the list. The positive trend of female representation continues for a second successive year (2021/22: 22%; 2020/21: 18%; 2019/20: 12.5%).
This year there were seven new entries, the highest of which is Columbia Business School’s Todd Jick, who rounds off the top 10. Meanwhile, INSEAD and ICFAI Business School dominate the top 10, boasting four and three authors respectively.
As for the wider top 50, Harvard Business School rank highest with nine authors, followed closely by ICFAI Business School (seven), INSEAD (seven) and the International Institute for Management Development (IMD) (six).
And at no.27, Sandra Vandermerwe is Africa’s first Bestselling Case Author, flying the flag for Gordon Institute of Business Studies (GIBS), University of Pretoria.
