GV boasts more than 30 years of industry experience, working in senior roles in both the private and public sectors.
Qualified as a Mechanical Engineer and PGDM from the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore, GV has extensive experience using the case method. Prior to joining IBS Bangalore as the Director, he headed the award-winning Case Research Center at IBS Hyderabad – leading a team of talented case writers.
GV has authored or co-authored more than 150 management case studies. His case, IKEA in Russia: Ethical Dilemmas, won the Ethics and Social Responsibility category at the The Case Centre Awards and Competitions in 2016.
He has also been successful at the EFMD case writing competition, winning the Latin American Business Cases category with Chile’s Concha y Toro: Successfully Selling ‘New World’ Wine Globally in 2014, and the Emerging Chinese Global Competitors category with Lenovo: Challenger to Leader in 2013.
Further awards include the Nominated award at the 2016 Global Contest for the ‘Best China Focused Cases’ thanks to his case Can Huawei Overcome Roadblocks in its Quest for Global Markets?, and the first prize in the 2020 oikos Case Writing Competition for the case Hello Tractor – Leveraging Technology to Provide Food Security & Sustainable Agriculture in Africa.
GV has conducted training programmes on the case method in India and abroad. He has also mentored many budding case authors.
GV is currently the Associate Editor for India-focused cases at the International Journal of Instructional Cases. He recently edited a book Doing Business in South Asia: A Case Study Collection under the series International Cases in Business and Management published by Routledge.

Tang Ning (Ning), founder and CEO, CreditEase, was investing considerable time and attention to increase financial inclusion among individuals with historically no access to banking or financial services in China which had large underserved populations. Witnessing the grim situation of poor people of China, Ning launched CreditEase which focused on providing collateral-free loans and non-guaranteed loans to the financially excluded section of China.
