About ACSEP

The Asia Centre for Social Entrepreneurship and Philanthropy (ACSEP) is an academic research centre at the National University of Singapore Business School and boasts an international multi-disciplinary research team. ACSEP came into formal existence in April 2011, with a geographic focus embracing 34 nations and special administrative regions across Asia.

The Centre aims to advance understanding and the impactful practice of social entrepreneurship and philanthropy in Asia, through research and education. Its working papers are authored by academia and in-house researchers, providing thought leadership and offering insights into key issues and concerns confronting socially driven organisations.

Notice: Since 2021, the ACSEP collection has been transferred to the Centre for Computing for Social Good & Philanthropy.

About the collection

The ACSEP Case Series documents socially driven organisations including social enterprises, non-governmental organisations as well as strategic philanthropy in Singapore and Asia to demonstrate impactful practice and their learning journeys. They highlight strategic, tactical and operational issues in scaling, sustainability and capacity building.

Through these teaching cases, ACSEP challenges both students and practitioners to adopt a social entrepreneurial mindset and put on a multi-disciplinary lens in decision making in the public, private and people sectors. The cases not only offer useful insights for the social sector, such as non-profit practitioners, social entrepreneurs and grant makers; they are also pertinent for business leaders who increasingly have to adopt a multi-stakeholder approach in their business strategy.

In this sense, the ACSEP Case Series contributes to field building in social entrepreneurship education and the scaling of social impact in Singapore and Asia. These teaching cases may be used for both formal and informal learning experiences in academic institutions and executive training respectively.
