About the Asian Business Case Centre

The Asian Business Case Centre (ABCC) was established in 2000 by the Nanyang Business School, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. Its mission is to build a virtual community of people interested in the development of Asian business and management case studies for teaching, writing, research and publications.

Through its internet portal www.asiacase.com ABCC aims to stimulate interest in case writing among faculty as well as to house, promote and expand the resource pool of teaching case studies. In 2000, a five-year programme in collaboration with the Richard Ivey School of Business, University of Western Ontario, was launched to jointly write case studies and encourage case study teaching in Singapore and Asia. ABCC has collaborated with industry partners such as Ministry of Manpower, the Design Council, Maritime & Port Authority of Singapore and the Singapore Totalisator Board on case study projects to increase understanding and scholarship of specific sectors in Singapore. ABCC also conducts case workshops based on field research to facilitate knowledge exchange and sharing among practitioners.

In 2004, ABCC made its foray into book publishing with the introduction of its first casebook featuring a collection of case studies focusing on public organisations and government-linked companies in Singapore. This was followed by publication of two casebooks on the Hospitality industry in Asia under the collection name ‘Asian Management Case Collections’. At the same time, ABCC started an initiative to translate the cases into Chinese to support Chinese executive programmes. More than 20 individual cases and two case books have been successfully translated and published. ABCC also publishes cases submitted by faculty from other universities in the region after a rigorous review and editorial process, in its e-journal – ‘Asian Case Collection’.
