About Graduate School of Management, St. Petersburg University 

The Graduate School of Management at St. Petersburg University was established in 1993. As part of the National Priority Project in Education, the Graduate School of Management, St. Petersburg University (GSOM SPbU) was set up in 2007. Since the 1990s, the case method has been actively used by faculty in the teaching process.

GSOM SPbU is a leading Russian business school, its mission is to create knowledge, to develop leaders and to change the world for the better. 

GSOM SPbU’s portfolio includes Bachelor and Master programmes, PhD, MBA, Executive MBA and Executive Education programmes. Master programmes are delivered in English in accordance with the ECTS standards. The Business School has a number of joint programmes with Russian and international Universities and companies.

GSOM SPbU has gained unique international recognition, unprecedented for a Russian business school, through prestigious international accreditation and memberships – EFMD, AACSB, AMBA, CEMS, PIM, GBSN, GRLI, EABiS, GMAC, as well as Russian memberships including RABE, SPIBA, and the Russian Managers Association. Year after year the Business School is listed in the leading international rankings of educational programmes in the field of management and international rankings of business schools carried out by the most reputable agencies like Financial Times, The Economist and QS.

GSOM SPbU is Russia's leading producer of business cases and teaching notes which are available in both Russian and English. The cases are designed to help business students and executives improve their abilities to analyse information, think strategically and make critical managerial decisions.

Currently, GSOM SPbU is the largest center of case studies on business practices in Russia. GSOM SPbU is Russia’s first business school which formed its own collection of case studies at The Case Centre in English.

About the collection

GSOM SPbU Case Development Center was established in 2006 and facilitates the development of innovative business education technologies and faculty advanced training. It integrates GSOM SPbU innovative teaching techniques into the international business education development process. 

The collection of business case studies developed at GSOM SPbU between 1996-2020, consists of 292 cases, including 171 supported by teaching notes.
More than 80 professors and seven graduate students took part in case development. Over 50 case studies and teaching notes have been developed in co-authorship with colleagues from other business schools i.e. Haas School of Business, University of California (Berkeley), University of Texas, Babson College, Helsinki School of Economics and other international business schools.

244 of those cases and teaching notes are published through The Case Centre. The cases are tailored to the portfolio of GSOM SPbU programmes on the undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate levels.
