The biggest reward for teachers in choosing the case method is the engagement and education of students in the classroom, but we also aim to provide wider recognition for case teachers.

Urs Mueller
“I am deeply honoured to receive this award. In my role as program director for various executive education and degree programs, I have had the privilege to observe a large number of truly excellent case teachers. I learned so much from them and realised that I had to find my own personal style of using cases in class. I accept this award with the ambition to further improve my own use of cases, most importantly by using cases in ways that buffer the method against sometimes legitimate criticism of being tool-focused instead of helping the development of more relevant competencies like analytical skills, creativity and critical thinking.”
Urs Mueller, SDA Bocconi School of Management. Winner of the Outstanding Case Teacher competition 2020.

Outstanding Contribution to the Case Method

Each year we reward someone who has made an outstanding contribution to the case method. Nominated by the case community, we recognise individuals who have gone the extra mile ‘above and beyond the call of duty’ to promote the case method. Find out more

I’m delighted that The Case Centre curates #WorldCaseTeachingDay because the case classroom is where the case method comes alive. A high-quality case being taught by a great case teacher, with well-prepared students, is the most exciting and moving learning experience imaginable. The best may make it look effortless but it requires dedication, imagination, and a willingness by the teacher to share their space – the classroom – with students. The impact on learning cannot be overstated. I meet many senior business people who speak enthusiastically about a favourite professor and a special case that has been their touchstone throughout their career. Case teaching is for life, not just for class."
Richard McCracken, Director of The Case Centre
