Professor Mark Easterby-Smith Obituary

Mark Easterby-SmithWe are deeply saddened to hear of the passing away of our former Executive Committee member, Professor Mark Easterby-Smith.

Professor Easterby-Smith died from pneumonia last week (Wednesday 15 April) after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease.

Professor Easterby-Smith was Emeritus Professor in the Department of Organisations, Work and Technology at Lancaster University Management School, and considered a leading writer and thinker in the field of organisation learning. He was also one of the British Academy of Management founders, serving as its Chair and President in 2004 and 2007 respectively.

His connection to The Case Centre and the case method was as a member of our Executive Committee between 1991-2000.

Richard McCracken, The Case Centre Director, said: “Mark will be greatly missed. He made an outstanding contribution to furthering case teaching and writing during his time on the Executive Committee. Our condolences go to Mark’s family, friends and colleagues.”
