The Case Centre’s Director, Richard McCracken visited ICFAI Business School Hyderabad, India, to present the 2016 Ethics and Social Responsibility Award to G. V. Muralidhara and Namratha V. Prasad for their winning case IKEA in Russia: Ethical Dilemmas.
Richard said: ‘This is a particularly outstanding achievement as many, many cases are written about IKEA, simply because it is such a huge global company and attracts a tremendous amount of interest. So GV and Namratha should be especially proud that their case has received this worldwide recognition.
‘This case about IKEA stands out from the crowd because it is a fascinating and extremely well-written study of the dilemmas companies face when their ethical standards interfere with what’s best for the business. This is an important challenge that many students will face in their future careers. It’s a great case to teach and offers the inspiring conclusion that giving into corruption does not make business easier to do in the long run.
‘Well done, GV Muralidhara and Namratha V. Prasad. I’m very pleased to be able to present these awards to you in person.’
