The case authors, Vineet Kumar, previously at Harvard Business School, now at Yale School of Management, and Harvard Business School’s Bharat Anand, Sunil Gupta and Felix Oberholzer-Gee, wrote the case from published sources. On hearing they had won the award, they said it was a wonderful recognition of their work and the value of the case in enabling an in-depth understanding of important business challenges.

The case focuses on the important issue of digital business models and digital transformation in the publishing industry. However, the principles and learnings involved broadly inform the dilemmas any firm or industry facing a disruption/transformation would experience, and so is widely applicable.
