David Dubois and Horacio Falcão made it a double celebration at INSEAD last Tuesday (13 June), when they collected the Marketing and Human Resource Management/Organisational Behaviour (HRM/OB) awards.

David, alongside colleague Katrina Bens, who couldn’t attend the ceremony at the Europe Campus in Fontainebleau, won the Marketing accolade with a case on social media strategies at L’Oréal Paris, while Horacio claimed the HRM/OB category for his case on Oxipouco, an Amazon rainforest plant.

Horacio, Senior Affiliate Professor of Decision Sciences, said: “There’s great support here at INSEAD to write cases and a very helpful Publications and Copyright team, who ensure we produce such high quality cases.

“The team assists in not only making sure the cases are well written but that they make an impact with the students too. The case process involves many rewrites so I appreciate all the patience shown by my colleagues, and their help in selling the cases to as many people as possible.”

David, Assistant Professor of Marketing, continued: “Building a case is very much a collective experience, it’s not an individual one. Cases are a brilliant way of combining academia and business and bringing business into the classroom.

“We have a fantastic team and this award is very much for them.”

Tim Van Zandt, Dean of Faculty and Research at INSEAD, praised the work of both authors, as the school looks to continue their commitment to the case method.

“I’m very proud of the record INSEAD has of producing top cases which are distributed worldwide, and we’ve upped our game even further.

“David and Horacio’s award wins underlines the brilliant work being done on cases here at INSEAD, this is actually the first role-play (Horacio) that’s won a case award, which is an impressive achievement. I’m very proud of both David and Horacio.”
