It value innovated by shifting the buyer group from children (end-users of the traditional circus) to adults (purchasers of the traditional circus).

Meet Chan and Renée

BiographyINSEAD Professors W. Chan Kim and Renée Mauborgne created Blue Ocean Strategy and are Co-Directors of the INSEAD Blue Ocean Strategy Institute. They have been working together for the past 30 years, decoding the requirements for strategic success and challenging organisations, nations and individuals to create blue oceans of uncontested market space, and to do so systematically.

They are co-authors of Blue Ocean Strategy: How to Create Uncontested Market Space and Make the Competition Irrelevant (Harvard Business Review Press). Blue Ocean Strategy has sold over 3.5 million copies and is published in a record-breaking 44 languages. It is a bestseller across five continents and has won numerous awards.

They are both Fellows of the World Economic Forum and have been consistently ranked in the top three in The Thinkers50 listing of the World’s Top Management Gurus. In 2014, they received the Carl S. Sloane Award for Excellence from the Association of Management Consulting Firms in recognition of the impact their management research has made on the global consulting industry.
