Tutor profile: Ulf Schaefer

Ulf SchaferUlf is a Programme Director at ESMT European School of Management and Technology and Visiting Professor at HEC Paris and IAE Business School in Buenos Aires. Ulf studied philosophy, mathematics, logic, and theory of science in Bonn, Knoxville, and UC Berkeley, as well as business administration in Rotterdam and London (Canada).

Before joining ESMT in 2005, he was a Lecturer of Philosophy at Bonn University, Strategy Consultant with A.T. Kearney, co-founder of the Launch Group, a manager at DaimlerChrysler and Director and Head of Strategy Consulting at Sapient.

His teaching and research focus on leadership, change, and responsible management. Ulf teaches on ESMT’s MBA and EMBA degree and open enrolment programmes and is the programme director of ESMT’s Understanding and Leading Change (ULC).

He has worked closely with and taught sessions at numerous companies including Allianz, Bertelsmann, Bosch Siemens, Celtel, Daimler, Deutsche Bank, Deutsche Telekom, E.ON, Gazprom, Metro, Julius Berger, Lufthansa, Postbank, RWE, Sanofi Aventis, and TÜV in Europe, Nigeria, Argentina, Russia and China.

Together with Urs Müller, another of our award-winning tutors, Ulf received The Case Centre’s Human Resource Management/Organisational Behaviour Award in 2014.
