Abstract

Tata Motors Limited, part of the multibillion dollar Tata group a global enterprise, headquartered in India, comprises of 30 companies across 10 verticals, employing over 700,000 people globally. The group operates in more than 100 countries across six continents. In 2017-18, the revenue of Tata companies was USD110.7 billion. Tata Motors, the group's flagship automotive company, manufactures and markets automobiles for a broad range of personal and commercial vehicle markets. Tata Motors has a global footprint with operations in the UK, South Korea, South Africa and Indonesia through a network of 97 subsidiary and 9 associate companies, including Jaguar Land Rover in the UK and Tata Daewoo in South Korea. The company is facing different challenges in its domestic and international markets. The automotive sector as a whole is going through turbulent times, such as - mounting global pressure to adopt cleaner technologies; accelerating disruptive competition and innovation; mounting scrutiny from state and regulators with hardening stance on emission and safety norms; digitalization of value chain; and changing consumer behavior seen through the perspective of (say) emerging shared economies, driverless cars, ecological considerations etc. Additionally, TML is experiencing declining share prices and Earnings per Share (EPS) and there is concern about the enterprise valuation as well.
