Case working title

Combatting Human Trafficking in the Hospitality Industry

David L. Nersessian

‘I am delighted to receive this scholarship and am grateful to The Case Centre’s executive committee for providing me the opportunity. More and more, social issues are becoming embedded into business decision making as a consequence of both consumer demand and increasing levels of interconnectivity between stakeholders.

‘This case focuses on the social dimensions of business by considering the intersection of a fundamental human right – the right not to be held in slavery – with the global, multi-billion dollar hospitality industry and its efforts to combat human trafficking. The Case Centre’s support will enable me to better incorporate the perspectives of additional stakeholders (eg, anti-trafficking NGOs) into the case by facilitating additional research and interviews relating to this important stakeholder group.'
