Date of scholarship award

November 2020

Case working title

The Effect of Jaguar Land Rover Asset Impairment on Tata Motors Ltd.

Parizad Dungore

Parizad said: “This scholarship will provide me with much-needed exposure to develop good case studies, by providing me a place in the case writing workshop, interaction with professional case writers and gaining first-hand information via speaking to professionals at Bombay House or if travel is permitted, a visit to the Jaguar Land Rover office in the UK.”

She continued: “Writing about this subject, to a great extent, connects to me. I spent my childhood in the ‘Steel City’ Jamshedpur, India. In yesteryear, the city was known as ‘Kaali-Maati’, meaning ‘black soil’, as the place was rich in iron ore. Later, to honour its founder Sir Jamsetji Nusserwanji Tata, the city was renamed Jamshedpur/Tatanagar by British Viceroy Chelmsford.

“My father worked for TELCO (Tata Locomotive and Engineering Company Ltd), renamed Tata Motors in 2008. Since childhood, the Tata Company, its objectives and most importantly, philanthropy, imbibed in the company’s vision and mission, impinged on my mind. Today, I feel most privileged to write a case study on Tata Motors.

“From the academic prospective, this case study will help me to develop intellectually as I will be studying the intricacies to develop this case, in addition to understanding the finer aspects of accounting and finance, and analysing various aspects pertaining to the discipline from a practical aspect. It will also connect the discipline to real industry situations by providing live examples and thereby arousing interest.”

She added: “I consider this scholarship a path breaking achievement in my teaching career. It’s given me the feeling of having the ability to achieve, for which I am most grateful for.”
