The Case Centre Connect Issue 31, New Year 2018

Dear colleague

Welcome to the New Year issue of Connect!

We head to sunny climes for our first featured case, as the general manager of a luxury Maldivian resort is trying to form a strategy for the new Chinese market holidaying on the islands.

It’s then a short hop to India, where Nestlé’s reputation lies in tatters as its popular Maggi Noodles product is recalled from the shelves.

We also take a look at how the OCBC Bank Group has made a success of their acquisitions in Southeast Asia, before returning to India to see how a whisky label is rebranding to appeal to a younger market.

In ‘5 minutes with…’ we get to know INSEAD’s Zoe Kinias a little better. Zoe is Academic Director of the School’s Gender initiative.

Our feature on the gender case gap explores the lack of women in teaching cases, while our Director Richard McCracken’s recent blogs on his case writing tips are serialised in our second feature.

Best wishes
The Case Centre team

“Case writing helps you stay relevant by learning about real businesses; provides useful research insights; represents a nice complement to writing journal articles; and is just plain interesting.” – Paul W Beamish, Ivey Business School. Read more.
