The Case Centre Connect Issue 42, Winter 2019
padding

Dear colleague

Welcome to the Winter issue of Connect!

We look at Silicon Valley start-up Evisort in our first featured case, as their management team ponder the biggest potential sale in the company’s history.

We then head over to Europe for a case series. Automotive supplier Faurecia are trying to turn around the fortunes of one of their plants in Catalonia, Spain.

Back in the US, direct-to-consumer beauty brand Glossier is debating the marketing strategies that will push them forward, while the last featured case focuses on Ford’s entrance into the smart vehicle sector.

Elsewhere in Connect, we bring you the second part of our ‘teaching with cases online’ feature, which explores the practical and pedagogical issues. In our second feature, we go into detail on our new case submission guidelines.

Finally, Herminia Ibarra of London Business School, is the latest ‘5 minutes with…’ participant.

Best wishes
The Case Centre team

IMD business school’s Francisco Szekely talks about what is needed to produce a good case after collecting the Case Awards 2019 Economics, Politics and Business Environment prize in June. Watch here.

“Cases let students see the relevance of concepts and frameworks to real-world situations they have experienced, and to understand, in a very visceral way, that the same situation can be perceived very differently by their peers.” – Herminia Ibarra, London Business School. Discover more.

“The biggest mistake you can make is just to do online what you do face-to-face without establishing the needs of the target students.” – Mark Fenton-O’Creevy, The Open University. Read more.

Are you a business educator looking for fresh ways of teaching today’s students? Brands Whisper’g, in partnership with The Case Centre, is offering a free webinar on Thursday 21 November 2019 that looks at teaching using video cases. Discover more.
