Named for Virginia Governor Colgate Whitehead Darden Jr., the Darden School opened its doors in 1955 as the graduate business school of the University of Virginia, which was founded by Thomas Jefferson in 1819 and is one of the top public universities in the nation and a UNESCO World Heritage site. At Darden, their mission is to improve the world by developing responsible leaders through unparalleled transformational learning experiences. Through degree and non-degree programs, delivered by the world’s best faculty and bolstered by their research and ideas, Darden put their personal purpose in motion, setting the stage for a lifetime of career advancement and impact. The case method is heavily used at Darden, particularly on the MBA program, with classes entirely taught through this way of learning. Darden provides superior case-based classroom content for management education through its publishing arm. Darden Business Publishing was founded in 2003 to share the school’s case collection with business instructors worldwide as well as to fulfill the market need for timely and relevant business case content. Today Darden Business Publishing is the second-largest case publisher in the United States. Its case collection contains over 3,000 cases, technical notes, exercises, books, and simulations used in more than 130 countries around the world. Since 2023, The Case Centre has received 81 new cases for distribution from Darden authors. In total the collection available through The Case Centre numbers 3,100 cases, many with accompanying instructor materials, software and videos. 39 of those are prize-winning cases. |
