Founded in 2002 by 25 leading global companies, ESMT offers master’s, MBA, and PhD programs, as well as executive education across its campus in Berlin, various locations around the world, online, and in an online blended format. Focusing on leadership, innovation, and analytics, its diverse faculty publishes outstanding research in top academic journals. Additionally, the international business school provides an interdisciplinary platform for discourse between politics, business, and academia. ESMT is a non-profit private institution of higher education, accredited by AACSB, AMBA, EQUIS, and FIBAA, and is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion across all its activities and communities. ESMT’s case study collection is made up of more than 170 cases with corresponding teaching notes and includes video cases and other supplementary materials. Founding companies of ESMT, such as Bosch, EADS, E.ON, Deutsche Telekom, and Siemens, as well as other companies that focus on broader European issues and emerging markets figure substantially in the collection. The majority of the cases address general management challenges. ESMT cases place a special focus on leadership and HRM, technology-based industry, and social responsibility/ethics. Of particular interest within the collection are cases and video material from non-business settings like the arts or sports and the examination of new issues and concepts, such as the future of leadership, German technology companies in Asia, or far-reaching changes in financial service institutions. In total the collection available through The Case Centre numbers 215 cases, many with accompanying instructor materials, software and videos. 20 of those are prize-winning cases. |

“In the dynamic landscape of business education, case studies describe segments of business life. They comprise complex qualitative and quantitative information and serve to bring theory and practice together. Case studies support a transformative learning experience by elevating the interaction between students and faculty to a higher level of critical thinking and learning. Teaching with case studies helps us cultivate students’ strategic acumen and decision-making skills. ESMT faculty write these real-world scenarios based on rigorous research that is combined with the practical experience they have gained while working with companies from a wide range of industries and regions of the world.
"Being in the top 20 of The Case Centre Impact Index underscores the importance of translating academic rigor into tangible impact at ESMT Berlin. It reflects not only our dedication to produce exceptional educational content but also to actively shape the narrative of contemporary business challenges and solutions.”
