Taking Amazon versus Walmart on Collision Course as an example, the session will demonstrate how developing detailed templates for small breakout groups can enhance participant learning through active engagement. The templates must be structured, clear, and yield 'aha' results for the participants as they compare their responses to the ones that the instructor pulls from them. Each template should have a counter-intuitive conclusion and the wrap up should be theoretical.

The presenters will share details of a newly accepted British Council project which focuses on co-creating innovative case studies as part of a collaboration with business leaders and academics, for delivery to students studying entrepreneurship modules. As the business leaders/entrepreneurs are not only invited to co-create the case study but also, where possible, to deliver this in the classroom, the study explores the impact of this collaboration on both the business leaders and the participating students as a learning community.

LiveCase is pioneering a model of digital education that is more engaging and more dynamic than static online courses and printed case study learning, just as exciting but more flexible, cheaper and easier to create or manage than simulations. LiveCase immerses players in a realistic scenario through interactive multimedia chat simulations. Learning is brought to life as they face and respond to the challenges that arise as the story unfolds. For learners the experience is deeper and more meaningful, bridging the gap between theory and practice. For educators, it’s more satisfying, allowing them to create better learning experiences with greater ease.

Cases are an effective tool in healthcare professional education, but often need to be adjusted to meet the increasing importance of interprofessional teams in the modern health-care system. This presentation will explore our adaption of the case-based method in a public health classroom and describe our innovative team-based approach.
