Abstract
In May 1999, Maija Virtanen, the international manager of Electronic Products Oy (ELPO), located in Espoo, Finland, was reviewing the international marketing strategy of XCV, its main product, which was a paperless purchasing process inside the company in e-mail form. She had to prepare a five-year internationalisation plan for Board approval by the end of the month.
