Abstract

Project Ray of Hope is an ambitious CSR project undertaken by an MNC having operations throughout the world. The MNC has partnered with three NGO's for the execution of this project. The primary areas considered in this project are Health, Sanitation, Hygiene and Education. The MNC has spent crores of rupees in the past three years and has taken many initiatives like water ATM's, building community toilets, building school infrastructure, providing nutritious food to pre-school (Anganwadi) children, awareness campaigns about health and nutrition, providing school teachers from NGO to supplement government teachers etc. All these initiatives have created a positive impact and this was evident by the evaluation study undertaken by an independent evaluation agency comprising of academics. The evaluation consisted of qualitative and quantitative measures. During the Focus Group Discussions with various stakeholders the issue of sustainability came to the forefront. In this case an attempt has been made to discuss the successful initiatives undertaken by the donor and NGO partners. This case also discusses the sustainability of this CSR project.
