Discusses how Microsoft came to dominate the computer software industry by 1996. Microsoft's domination was not inevitable or guaranteed. Discusses the battle between Windows and IBM's OS/2 in the early 1990s, while offering a glimpse at the personal battles between Microsoft's Bill Gates and IBM's James Cannavino.
