Abstract

This is a mini-case suitable for a seminar or course focused on an in-depth study of team work and team leadership, or as an introduction to sources of power. The theme of the case is leadership. Bunmi, the young and relatively inexperienced son of a bank's Executive Chairman, has just been promoted to the position of Corporate Finance Team Leader. His team includes some people older and more experienced than him coming from other teams that have now been merged into one. He wonders how he is going to blend this disparate collection of individuals into a team and what he should do to get them to accept his leadership willingly and not grudgingly.
