Abstract
This is part of a case series. In his first month as Managing Director of TNT China International Express, Michael Drake felt the urgent need to make changes; After careful consideration, Drake delivered his first speech at the China management meeting. He did his best to show respect and understanding in his one-hour speech. He talked about his understanding of the situation, emphasizing the need to respect local Chinese people and their expectations for fair pay, a good boss and career opportunities. He also outlined his philosophy for leading TNT China International Express to high performance and profitability.
