Abstract

This is part of a case series. R&D Consultants, founded by Mr Arvind Bedi in 2002, is one of the fastest growing consultancy firms in India with offices in Mumbai and Delhi; aiming to provide immaculate value-added Human Resource Solutions. The core committee formed in R&D consultants had varied educational backgrounds and experiences. This diversity of knowledge among the team members helped the core committee to devise a plan of preparing a country specific guide containing all the statutory norms, terms and conditions mandated by the government of a particular country which the companies need to follow while doing business in that country/geography. On further discussion, the committee boiled down to a few South Asian, East Asian and South-East Asian countries which could help attract potential clients for R&D Consultants. These countries are India, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and China. Ms Sushma Kulkarni, member of the core committee further came up with the idea of preparing templates for data gathering which could be used while implementing the deal. Hence, Mr Arvind Bedi gave Ms Sushma Kulkarni the responsibility to prepare sample templates. R&D Consultants underwent a restructuring to form an organized team to handle projects country-wise. They also co-ordinated, insourced and worked with other teams (associate consultants and support staff) to meet their new business and client needs. Thus, the team was ready to take up the challenging responsibility of conducting HR due diligence for clients who were planning to transact in any deal.
