Culture foundation is one of the organizations in the Amsterdam Southeast (SE) District that tries to put cultural diversity to a good use in creating events, producing festivals and other local entertainment related initiatives. The projects aim to have a positive effect on the development, the image of SE Amsterdam and the unification of the Amsterdam community. The creation of the Gospel festival in SE Amsterdam and the Gospel choir that grew from it, are perfect examples. Although very successful so far, economical and societal changes provide challenges that the cultural foundation ZO! Culture has to cope with. These challenges are diverse and complex, they relate to reaching maximum potential for their initiatives and achieving their goals. More specifically periodic governmental cutbacks have a large limiting impact on the processes of a non-profit organization, whose income is largely dependent on governmental subsidies. Reluctant investors and sponsors, colliding goals, and the nature of the business in gospel make it difficult for ZO! Culture to survive. The differences between managing a festival and managing a choir also create challenges.
