Abstract
The case of Altimus Brands is based on a real family-owned business with a global presence in the footwear sector. Like many other companies in this sector, Altimus acts as a supply chain integrator, managing suppliers, who manufactured the shoes; coordinating the logistics through third party logistics providers (3PLs); and controlling the distribution channels. The case's central character, Enzo Natale (Head of Finance and Operations), is facing an uphill struggle to make ends meet due to dwindling demand for footwear and increasing costs of raw materials, as well as labor inflation in the Far East. Enzo has to prepare a proposal to the board of the company which not only reduces cost of supplies but also mitigates the risk of changes to the supply base.
