This is part of a case series. This case sets up the context of a push for changing the culture of Vale, the Brazilian iron ore mining company. In 2001, Vale began a journey to change from being an iron ore mining company, with a 'state-owned' Brazilian mindset, to one that is characterised as a 'global, diversified mining' company.
