Abstract

This is the first of a two-case series (IMD-2-0074 and IMD-2-0075). The series deals with an international food company, Mampf Foods, faced with the problem of using controversial genetically engineered crops. In the (A) case, a policy statement on this issue has been requested by GreenEarth, an environmental organisation heading opposition to its use. Background information about the new technology and its problematic reception in Europe is given as an aid to policy formation. The teaching note was written by U Steger.
