Abstract
This video is to accompany the case. This video is in three parts and playing time is a total of 41 minutes. Part one: 'The Big Bang' (playing time 12mins 30 seconds) presents the differing perspectives and views of three key players in the change process. Jack Schmuckli, chairman of Sony Europa, speaks about his overall goals for the change process, and his reasons for initiating such a major change. Ron Sommer, president and Chief Operations Officer of Sony Europa, describes the evolution of consumer electronics in Europe, and the compelling reasons for pushing ahead with his change agenda. Shin Takagi, president of Sony-UK, and a possible candidate for the pivotal position VP-CME, expresses his reservations about the path and pace of the changes. Part two: 'Implementation' (playing time is 12 minutes presents the three main characters describing their contrasting reactions to how the change has been implemented, especially their views on how Shin Takagi has re- directed the change effort. Part three 'Lessons Learned' (playing time is 14 minutes) gives an opportunity to all three senior managers at Sony Europa to reflect on all that has transpired in the change process, and each of them draws very personal lessons learned during this period of challenge and change at Sony Europa.
