Abstract

This is the second of a two-case series (IMD-3-1266 and IMD-3-1267). The case examines Panalpina''s success in its drive for sustainable competitive advantage in the highly competitive European freight forwarding industry by focusing on the right mix of priorities and providing best in class service in its core competencies. Though this was not a miracle escape from the threat of commoditisation, Panalpina did significantly outperform industry averages and guarded its leadership position.
