Abstract

This is the second of a two-case series (IMD-2-0080 and IMD-2-0081). This case deals with the actual implementation of the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC). The case explains in detail the certification process for fisheries. This process is a ''best practice example'' for co-operation between environmental groups and corporations. The case raises the role of Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) when co-operating with industry. Students will realise that conflict between both groups is unavoidable. Nevertheless, they will also realise the strategic value of such a co- operation. **EFMD European Case Writing Competition Category Winner 2001**
