Abstract
This is the third of a four-case series (IMD-3-0757, IMD-3-0758, IMD-3-0759 and IMD-3-0760). In May 1995, the members of the two building societies - the Halifax and the Leeds - vote overwhelmingly in favour of a merger between the two institutions under the Halifax name. Plans for the integration of the two businesses have started. In the race to Day One, which is only two months away, the executive task force in charge of the integration has to select goals and priorities. It needs to identify and decide the approach to the integration tasks. It needs to provide leadership for 27,000 employees belonging to similar but still different institutions. This case was previously numbered 300-118-1.
