Abstract
This case shows how the Research and Development division of Ericsson Radio Systems developed a new technological concept to address the indoor cellular communications issue. An internal project team actually developed, tested and presented the ''hub and radio transmitters'' system that was considered a major technological breakthrough. However, the business units within Ericsson never shows a strong interest for the technology and Malte Lillestralle, the project leader, was very disappointed when he learned that Ericsson''s major European competitor, Nokia, had developed a product line for indoor cellular communications based on the ideas he and his team had worked on three years before.
