Abstract

This video is to accompany the case series. Martin Ciran, managing director of Whirlpool-Tatramat, looks back on several aspects of Tatramat's joint ventures with Whirlpool. He answers questions posed by Professor Pucik and by participants in an IMD class, such as: Before the joint venture, what was Tatramat's situation like? Once you signed your agreement with Whirlpool, how did you get the new company and its management started? How did Tatramat's local management react to Whirlpool's strategy for the joint venture? What was the problem with Tatramat's flagship product the 'Mini'? What were the workforce issues and what changes took place? How would you describe your company's culture today? Mr Ciran also comments on the reactions to his personal management style and finishes by briefly describing his dream for the future.
