Abstract
This is the first of a three-case series (IMD-3-0725 to IMD-3-0727). In this case, the 200-year-old textile machinery company considers a future strategy in order to hedge against fluctuations in the textile machinery business. A 15-page information packet is provided that includes real memos, financial results and analysis of a company targeted for acquisition (Unikeller). Based on the information in the case, the students can then decide if Rieter should buy the company or not.
