Abstract

The case is about the tensions faced by a social venture due to its rapid growth. The initiative uses a comprehensive rehabilitation process to get the sick and long-term unemployed into paid employment. The reader is presented with the challenges faced by Linus Älverbrandt, the initiative’s founder and executive manager, due to ideological differences between the two founding partners as well as due to the organisation outgrowing its functional capacity. The case stops at the moment when Linus has to decide a growth strategy. Empirical material comes from research interviews as well as from the experience of one of the case authors. This case is part of the CBS free case collection (visit www.thecasecentre.org/CBSfreecases for more information on the collection).
