Abstract
This is the first of a three-case series (IMD-5-0520, IMD-5-0521, IMD-5-0522). It describes the business situation of Groupe Photo Service (GPS), a French chain of mini laboratories for amateur film development. GPS offers a one hour service to the customers of shopping centres. At the time of the case, the founders propose to the shareholders to diversify the business and to go into one hour optical services. The case specifically describes service and employee related issues.
