Abstract
The case is presented in a descriptive and straightforward narrative. It is told from the viewpoint of one main protagonist John, a medical peace work doctor who is part of a team trying to get to a Haitian village to deliver aid after the earthquake. John was not the team leader and thus not directly responsible for decision-making beyond his medical obligations. The team leader becomes incapacitated in an accident and is no longer able to make key decisions for the team. John has to take control of the unforeseen medical situation within a chaotic much broader crisis context, acting under pressure in a situation requiring leadership, judgement and decision making skills.
