Abstract
Wildcraft was regarded as one of the key players in the Indian adventure gear industry. The company was founded in a garage by Dinesh KS, an Engineer and his group of friends who had a passion for outdoor activities. Dinesh designed his own range of rucksacks, sleeping bags and camping gear relevant for outdoor activities. Very soon the company which started its operations in the year 1998 became popular in the Indian adventure market. It offered a wide range of products right from camping gear to apparel to footwear. But the company struggled between economies of scale as its founders resigned for other opportunities. The company faced an immense financial crisis in the year 2003. But later on, it performed well with the guidance of its mentors such as Gaurav Dublish and Siddharth Sood. The company had a retail presence of about 120 stores in India across 55 cities till the year 2014 and was faring well in the Indian adventure gear industry. The company resorted to customising its products for the Indian population. Wildcraft also had plans to foray in to the Middle East as part of its expansion strategy. Thus amidst stiff competition from international players such as Decathlon in India, it remained to be seen in what ways the outdoor gear company would become a prominent player in the Indian adventure gear market.
