Abstract
This teaching case can be used in a course of operations management, technology management, or supply chain management. It illustrates the challenges in physical asset management certification of ISO 55000. The asset management's criticality awareness, 'line of sight' of asset management practices, and tackling the short-term assets such as smart meters due to emerging technology are some of the challenges elaborated in detail. A 'Gap analysis' between the current practice and ISO 55000 certification has been introduced. Discussions can be initiated towards change management, asset oriented enterprise culture, interdepartmental function merge, and data management.
