Abstract
This case study focuses on the mechanisms of financial crises and the consequences of severe financial crises, that is systemic risk. It describes the concepts of direct and indirect contagion which are fundamental when explaining financial crises. It also investigates several examples of bubble expansions and bubble blow ups, in order to illustrate the theoretical concepts introduced.
