Abstract

The environmental sustainability of the planet earth had gradually come to stake due to the rising negative impacts of global warming from yesteryears. Initially, during the 19th century onwards, the ill-effects of global warming had severely started impacting the ecological balance of nature. Globally, because of several anthropogenic as well as natural factors, ie, rapid industrialisation process, initiative towards stable economic growth, overpopulation, burning of fossil fuels, forest fires, permafrost, sunspots, etc, the global warming was getting stronger over the time period. Subsequently, as a result of the occurrences of both global warming and climate change, different types of natural hazards like melting of ice, rising sea levels, surging temperature in atmosphere, extreme weather conditions, acidification of the sea levels, etc had alarmingly affected the ecological balance of the environment. Moreover, while observing the rising impact of global warming on environment, the UK Met Office had predicted that the international temperature was set to increase at record-breaking level during 2015-16. In contrast, in an aim of controlling the global warming crisis in future, more than 190 countries had agreed upon to form a new climate change agreement at Paris in 2015. In addition to that, experts opined for planting trees, reducing the usages of paper, minimising thermal power generating stations, imposing of carbon emissions tax etc mainly to counteract the global warming menace. In this context, would all these remedial steps be enabled to restrict the global warming and climate change effects in future?
