Abstract
This is part of a case series. Borg-Warner Chemicals (BWC) is seeking a European partner in order to extend its ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene) thermoplastics business. BWC identifies an ABS plant in Northern France, belonging to CdF Chimie, as a suitable candidate. A team from BWC's US headquarters visits the plant together with the Vice-President of Operations from BWC in Amsterdam. Negotiations ensue and a merger agreement is signed. As the US company implements its strategy through its Dutch team, cultural and behavioral differences become apparent.
