Abstract
This is part of a case series. Kola was a lecturer at a College of Agriculture and a consultant in Agribusiness. He had considerable industry experience before joining the college. He desired to do research, to publish and to do a doctorate but his workload left him with little time. His mentor suggested that finding an able partner might solve the problem. He had taken care in selecting Bola a Business and Management consultant, to try out a loose partnership for one year. They had tried the loose partnership for a year and Kola had to make a decision. In reviewing the try out, Kola felt uncomfortable that their approaches to business and values were different. The case will support sessions on teamwork in business associations, emphasise the importance of thorough planning in seeking collaborations, demonstrate how theory and practice can drift apart and what can be done to bridge the gap.
