Abstract
'The Espoo Story: A New Approach to Strategy-Making' is a teaching case that focuses on strategy process and practice issues. In particular, it offers an opportunity to examine and reflect upon the role of narratives and storytelling in strategy work. In addition, it can be used to study issues such as engagement and participation. A special feature of the case is that it provides a very detailed and accurate description of what happened in Espoo based on interviews and encounters with the key decision-makers and a variety of other material accumulated during the process. This case is primarily intended for advanced strategy courses in master's and MBA programs or executive education. However, because it is easily accessible, it may also be used at the bachelor level. Although the case deals with a city organization, and thus specifically targets those interested in public management, it is meant for more general study of strategy process and practice issues.
