Abstract
This supplementary software is to accompany the case. Weight Multiplier (WM) operates in the animal nutrition and fish feed sector, employing 11,000 people in more than 35 countries and with annual sales of EUR5.3 billion in over 80 countries. Its management is currently considering two offers made to acquire the company. On October 20th, 2014 WM was approached by a strategic investor CHN, a privately held American corporation in the food and agriculture sector. Later the same month, WM was also approached by a private equity (PE) company SilverMoon, a global investment firm with a total committed capital of EUR25 billion. Both companies made non-binding offers. WM’s management began working on the received bids, analysing offers and the future prospects under each acquirer. Each bidder had benefits and disadvantages and it was up to WM's senior management to decide what is best for its shareholders.
